I want to gauge interest in a workshop I'm developing for IFP. It's for screenwriters who want to bring their works to producers -and- filmmakers who want to start development on their own projects. It involves breaking down, scheduling and budgeting the script.
This process can easily be learned on a small scale (i.e., using a short script to practice on) and then applied to longer scripts, even feature-length. You would need to bring a portable computer loaded with Excel or similar spreadsheet app, and your own short script (say 10 to 15 pages). At the end of the workshop, you will have done a breakdown, a preliminary schedule, and a budget template that can be used over and over for future projects.
Would this be something of value to you? What additional components do you think you might need to learn about? Currently I'm planning this as a 3-hour workshop, but I'm considering stretching it longer or into multiple days.
