FAQ - Membership

HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON AT IFP?
Q: How do I keep abreast of events, programs & news?:
A: The best way is to sign up for our free e-mail updates. We publish a monthly e-Newsletter and a weekly e-blast. Download newsletters here. Every event also has a separate listing on the website. See the calendar. We publish a Quarterly Events brochure that is mailed to all members; if you haven't received one, please check your address with our office: 602.955.6444. You may also want to be our friend on Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and Film Challenges Myspace.

RSVP FOR AN EVENT
Q: How do I RSVP to an event?
A: Details on IFP events (screenings, workshops, seminars etc) are listed in the Phoenix Events Section. Each listing will have RSVP information. For free events (Cinema Lounges, Membership Orientations), members should RSVP with full name, phone number and membership number to RSVP@ifpphx.org. For Society screenings (Filmgoer, Filmbuff and VIP Patron levels), send an e-mail with full name, phone number and membership number to society@phxfilm.com to reserve your seat. For paid events, follow the directions on the event listing. We generally offer tickets through Brown Paper Tickets online, but you are also welcome to call or stop into the office. Please note that many events have a higher charge for at the door tickets.

BEGIN A MEMBERSHIP - RENEW A MEMBERSHIP
Q: What if I do not want to renew or join online?
A: Go to this webpage to print a membership form that you can subsequently mail. Or call the membership department 602.955.6444 to join over the phone.

Q: How long does it take to set up my membership once I join or renew?
A: Memberships are processed once a month with expirations at the end of the month. If you wish to attend an event before you receive your membership card in the mail, simply use your temporary ID number you received when joining online.

Q: How do I check the status of my membership?
A:To check the status of your membership (expiration date, etc, access your web account; check your card; etc), contact the Phoenix Membership Director.

Q: What if I lose my card?
A: Replacement cards are $10. Contact the Membership Department and we'll send a replacement card or leave you one in the office for pick-up.

LIST OF MEMBER BENEFITS
Q: How do I find out what benefits I get with my membership to IFP/PHX?
A: Membership benefits are located at: IFP Membership Section. A printed version is mailed with your new member packet and is available for download.

FILMMAKER MAGAZINE
Q: I haven't received Filmmaker Magazine?
A: The first step is to notify Filmmaker Magazine of address changes by contacting Filmmaker Magazine Coordinator. If change of address is not the reason why you haven't received your magazine, contact the Phoenix Membership Director. Before doing so, bear in mind that Filmmaker Magazine is a quarterly publication published 4 times a year. In other words, you may be in-between issues. In the meantime, go to Filmmaker Magazine to read archived articles from past issues.

If you purchased your Issue between
- Mar 26 - Jun 25, your first issue of Filmmaker Magazine will arrive Jul 31 (Summer Issue)
- Jun 26 - Sep 25, your first issue of Filmmaker Magazine will arrive Oct 31 (Fall Issue)
- Sep 26 - Dec 25, your first issue of Filmmaker Magazine will arrive Jan 31 (Winter Issue)
- Dec 26 - Mar 25, your first issue of Filmmaker Magazine will arrive Apr 31 (Spring Issue)

NETWORKING
Q: How do you recommend I use the IFP/PHX to network?
A: There are two ways to network: Online and In-Person. To network online, post your profile in the Website Networking Center. Once you do that, you'll also be able to post and read classifieds for crew, jobs, and join discussion forums where you can ask questions and share knowledge with fellow members. To network in-person, attend as many IFP events as possible (Happy Hour and Cinema Lounge, Education seminars, Film Festivals). Most networking is really based on chance encounters that transpire when many people are in one place at a given time. At all IFP/PHX events, contact message boards are available to be used. IFP/PHX also plays Member Demo Reels at all networking events. To submit your demo, fill out the form and mail it in with your tape. This is FREE for members. In addition, enter the film challenges! This is a great way to get your work seen and to meet other filmmakers.

WEBSITE ACCOUNTS
Q: I can't log onto the website to setup my account or with my password?
A: The setup of your web account is sensitive to the info you have given us (name, address, etc). If this does not match please check your membership card. If difficulties persist contact the IFP Webmaster and your online account will be updated. If you cannot logon with your password, check to see that you are using the original email address that you used to setup the account. If you have forgotten your password, the site can send you a new password. Once the account is accessed you may update and change your account. A website account is created by the time you receive your card.
