SCREENING PROGRAMS
IFP/PHX, in conjunction with the Phoenix Film Festival, Phoenix
Film Society and International Horror/Sci-Fi Film Festival offers
year-round screening opportunities of all types of films.
The
Phoenix
Film Society offers monthly screenings of independent and
studio features. IFP/PHX members are entitled to free admission to
these. These screenings are held at Harkins Theatre locations
around the Valley, usually Monday-Thursday.
IFP/PHX's Cinema Lounges are held bi-monthly, on a Friday night,
and showcase short films and features made by Arizona filmmakers. A
Q & A with filmmakers and this casual, fun atmosphere make
these a must -attend. IFP/PHX members have free admission.
IFP/PHX members also receive free and discounted passes to
Arizona's largest film festival, the
Phoenix Film
Festival. In 2008, over 20,000 people attended the Festival. In
2005, the
International Horror/Sci-Fi Film Festival was created
to showcase the best of these genre films. IFP/PHX members receive
discounted passes to this annual Festival.
Throughout the year, IFP/PHX hosts film challenges. And along with
the challenges, comes a screening. The Annual Spring Film Challenge
is held right before the Phoenix Film Festival, with screenings at
the Festival as part of the IFP/PHX showcase. The Annual 48 Hour
Film Challenge, held in July, showcases the 33 entries to the
annual challenge at Harkins Scottsdale 101.
