- About Me:
- AMANDA MELBY
Amanda Melby, a native Minnesotan, made her way to Phoenix via Southern California, Washington, DC and Cleveland. She has worked as a professional actress for over 15 years and is a proud member of SAG, AFTRA and AEA. In addition to acting and teaching, Amanda also works as a producer, writer and spokeswoman. She is the Executive Director of IFP Phoenix and the owner of Verve Studios. She is a three-time Emmy ® nominee for her work as Producer and Host of the television show SCREEN WARS. In 2008, she was honored with the Layne Award for her dedication to the Arizona Entertainment Community.
Amanda can be seen in the feature films JAKE’S CORNER, FAREWELL DARKNESS, NETHERBEAST INCORPORATED, MADISON HALL, THE MAJESTIC and THE LANGUAGE OF KICKBALL. Her shorts credits include BONDAGE, AUTUMN LEAVES, DEATHBED BLUES and OUTLET (a 2000 Sundance Festival selection), among others. Her television credits include S.I.S., BOSTON PUBLIC, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, AdTV, and SCREEN WARS.
Her Los Angeles theatrical credits include understudying for Peri Gilpin as Gwendolyn in FRASIER GONE WILDE: THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST at the Mark Taper Forum, starring as Sonia in the LA premiere of LIFE x 3 at the Elephant Asylum, as Doris in SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR at the Long Beach Playhouse, and as Amy in the premiere of CHENILLE STEMS AND COCO MIDRIB at the Secret Rose Theatre. Regional theatrical credits include the Cleveland Play House, Porthouse Theatre, Dobama Theatre and Cleveland Shakespeare Festival.
She has appeared as Lady Percy and Helena in SHAKESPEARE’S FRIENDS, as Polly in RIDING TO BETHLEHEM, as Tess in KISSING and as Lisa in COLLECTED STORIES at Theatre Artists Studio.
She has studied with Howard Fine in his Master Class in LA. Amanda is an accomplished cellist and holds a BA in theatre and English from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota. www.AmandaMelby.com.

48-Hour films
Can I just say how excited I am about this year's batch of 48-Hour film challenge films? I watched them all on Wednesday night and was so impressed by the huge number of excellent films this year. Only the top 5 move to the finals - and boy was that tough - but the Audience also gets to choose their favorite to move into the finals too. Plan on attending the screening to make your voice heard.

Teens Commercial Class - December 6 & 13
COMMERICAL CLASS FOR TEENS
Verve’s Teen classes are a perfect opportunity for Teens to explore acting techniques in a fun and focused environment. Teen Classes and workshops are open to serious students ages 12-17 and are limited in size to give each student individual attention.
