Bob Marquis was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit and moved to Phoenix in 2008. His film career began while he was studying improvisation at the Second City-Detroit. In 2004, he produced and directed the Detroit Neutrino Project, an improvised movie shot live before an audience.
Bob has led a variety of creative teams to compete in film challenges around the country, including Phoenix, Detroit and Cincinnati. He has also directed various films for churches and non-profits.
He has produced, directed and edited the short films AN UPLIFTING TALE (2nd Place, 48 Hour Film Challenge), ROCHAMBEAU (2nd Place, 24 Hour Film Challenge), LAZY COMEDIAN (selected for the 2006 Planet Ant Film Festival), NOW SERVING, RAZZAMATAZZ, COVERALLS OF JUSTICE, ELECTION DAY and SUPERGUY, among others.
Bob has won awards for Best Editing (ROCHAMBEAU), Best Technical Elements (AN UPLIFTING TALE), Best Sound Design (RAZZAMATAZZ), and was nominated for Best Director (ROCHAMBEAU). In 2009, Bob was honored with a Special Achievement in Art Direction for incorporating unique, creative elements into AN UPLIFTING TALE.
He has been a member of the IFP-Phoenix Advisory Counsel since 2009. In addition, Bob performs and teaches improvisation with The Torch Theatre in Phoenix.
Dedicated to advocating and inspiring women who desire to be enlightened and inspired by the craft of MP/TV/Media Arts via education, mentoring and cultivating a strong collaborative network of partnerships in the community.
