IFP/PHX BEAT THE CLOCK SHORT FILM CHALLENGE
BEST FILM GOES TO “THE AFTER VOWS”
AWARDS PRESENTED TO TOPS IN ACTING, DIRECTING, EDITING, WRITING AND CINEMATOGRAPHY

(Phoenix, Arizona) – On Monday, April 6, as part of the 2009 Phoenix Film Festival, the Phoenix chapter of the Independent Feature Project (IFP/PHX) presented the Beat the Clock Short Film Challenge Finals and Awards Ceremony. Emceed by comedian and actor Steve Briscoe and featuring award presentations by IFP/PHX Executive Director Amanda Melby, Phoenix Film Foundation Executive Director Jason Carney, Phoenix Film Foundation Founder Chris LaMont, Phoenix Film Office Program Manager Phil Bradstock and IFP/PHX Film Challenge Director Todd Anderson, awards were presented to the Best Film; Best Actor, Actress, Ensemble Acting; Best Editing, Cinematography, Directing and Writing; and Audience Favorite.

Here is a list of the winners:
BEST FILM: The After Vows by team Catbrain Film Factory from the 48-Hour challenge. Directed, Edited and Produced by Paul Hoeprich; Written by Nathan Yocum; and starring Holly Dell and Stephen Moon.
BEST ACTOR: Jose Rosete from Mitch the Bitch from team DIB Pictures in the 48-Hour Challenge.
BEST ACTRESS: Holly Dell from The After Vows from team Catbrain Film Factory in the 48-Hour Challenge.
BEST ENSEMBLE ACTING: The cast of The Mating Game from team Phoenix Independent Filmmakers Meet-Up Group in the 48-Hour Challenge.
BEST DIRECTOR: Webb Pickersgill for Appetite for Justice from team Bassline Digital in the 48-Hour Challenge.
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Webb Pickersgill for The Guilty from team Bassline Digital in the 36-Hour Challenge.
BEST EDITING: Bob Marquis for Rochambeau from team Sailbear in the 24-Hour Challenge.
BEST WRITING/STORY: Jessica Marquis for Rochambeau from team Sailbear in the 24-Hour Challenge.
AUDIENCE FAVORITE: Following Suit from team Bassline Digital from the 24-Hour Challenge.

The Beat The Clock Short Film Challenge had three preliminary rounds: 48-Hour (July 2008), 36-Hour (November 2008) and 24-Hour (January 2009). From the seventy-one (71) films completed over the year, the top eighteen (18) films screened at the finals round – the Top 5 and audience favorite from each preliminary round. The grand prize winner at the Finals round, as selected by the Phoenix Film Critics Society, won $1000, a free one-year membership to IFP/PHX and became an automatic selection to the 2010 Phoenix Film Festival. IFP Phoenix members voted on the Specialty Awards and those winners were presented with trophies. A complete nominees list is available on www.ifpphx.org by clicking on the Beat the Clock logo.

IFP/PHX is dedicated to the advancement of independent filmmaking in Arizona. Its mission is to support independent filmmaking by providing networking, screening and educational opportunities for filmmakers.
